A Bio-note on the Poet

Dr. Abnish Singh Chauhan

Dr. Abnish Singh Chauhan (b. 1979) is a noted bilingual poet, critic, translator, and academic leader with over two decades of teaching, research, and administrative experience. He serves as Professor and Head, Department of English, at Bareilly International University (BIU), where he also holds several key leadership positions— Founding Principal, BIU College of Humanities & Journalism (2022–present); Founding Principal, UG Programmes of BIU College of Management (2019–present); Chief Proctor (2024–present); and former Additional Registrar (2019–2022).

A prolific author and editor, Dr. Chauhan has published 15 books and contributed over 100 research papers, articles, and reviews to leading journals, magazines, and newspapers. His creative works appear in more than two dozen anthologies, including ‘Samkaleen Navgeet Sanchayan – Part 1’ (Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi). Moreover, he has been invited as a speaker and judge at major literary and academic events, including ‘Navgeet Mahotsav’ (2014), ‘Ahmedabad International Literature Festival’ (2016), and ‘Rendezvous’ (2017), IIT Delhi.

Dr. Chauhan has received several prestigious awards for his literary and scholarly achievements. Among them are: ‘Harivansh Rai Bachchan Yuva Geetkar Samman’ (2013) from ‘Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan’, Lucknow, for his Hindi poetry collection ‘Tukada Kagaz Ka’; ‘Pratham Kavita Samman’ (2011) from ‘Kavita Kosh’ (www.kavitakosh.org); ‘Book of the Year Award’ (2012) from ‘The Think Club’, Michigan, USA; ‘Srajnatmak Sahitya Puraskar’ (2013) from ‘Rajasthan Patrika’, Jaipur; and ‘Navankur Puraskar’ (2014) from ‘Abhivyakti Vishwam’, Sharjah, UAE, among others.

As a scholar-administrator, Dr. Chauhan is recognized for his visionary leadership and strategic contribution to higher education. He has played a central role in curriculum design and innovation, aligning academic programmes with contemporary needs and global standards. His involvement in quality assurance frameworks, including NAAC and UGC 2(f) processes, reflects his commitment to institutional excellence. He has actively advanced faculty development initiatives, student-centred learning models, and integrated academic operations that promote creativity, critical thinking, and ethical awareness.
