Poetry that Leaves Us Impressed
"Dear Abnish, your poem ‘Under the Scorching Sun’ was a big hit at the poets’ meeting in the city on Monday night when I read it out. A good friend of mine, Arch Bishop (not his real name but it’s the name he uses to perform poetry) was very impressed with your poem ‘Peace Comes?’ and said if he may, he would like to recite it at some of the venues, giving you credit for writing it, of cause. Over here, we have poetry venues where as many as 70-75 people come to hear poetry. Poets like Mr. Arch read or recite their poems and act them out, which makes them very entertaining. Mr. Arch has a big following over here, so he will make your poem and name famous on the Sydney and Melbourne scene if you say it’s okay for him to recite that poem. Please let me know if you want him to do that, so I can tell him what to do when I see him next. He will also, of course, mention that the poem is from A String of Words." — Paddy Martin (deceased), Sydney, Australia
